“Vendimia” - Cosecha 2013
In the northern hemisphere, vines wait patiently under gray skies for the sun to return from its getaway in the south. Meanwhile in Mendoza, conditions are perfect for harvesting ripened grapes and is wine country’s busiest time of year.

Hand of God winemaker, Santiago Achával, says of this year’s harvest: “It looks very good. It smells very good. There is something intense, attractive, and pleasing in the 2013 wines…we expect that this will be an excellent year.” The hot days and cool nights typical during this last month concentrate the aromatic components, acidity and color in the grapes.

After the fruit comes off the vines, the annual harvest celebration known as “Vendimia” commences. The normally quiet wine town becomes full to bursting for the festival, which features live music, folk dancing, traditional cuisine, a local beauty pageant, and plenty of Malbec!

What’s new!?
Stateside, things are heating up as Spring ushers in warmer weather and new partnerships! Wild Ginger restaurants in Bellevue and Seattle, known for having award-winning wine lists, will feature Hand of God by the glass and bottle. Also in Washington, we’ve teamed up with A&B Imports to promote the wines statewide; in Nevada, distribution through J&P Fine Wines has been agreed upon. See more here on our website.

Driving this growth is our new Sales and Marketing Director, Gretchen Allen. Her career has covered all aspects of wine sales; Gretchen hit the ground running, already transforming our brand’s identity through social media, new connections, and by attending pouring events locally, and soon, nationally.

Come play with us!

Speaking of events, will you be at Sexy Syrah & Tantalizing Tastes at Salty’s restaurant on Alki in Seattle on April 10th? We will! This is our first off site pouring event, and tickets at $45 sell out fast (so buy now!).

Hand of God also presented at our first food and wine event, The Mid-Atlantic Food and Wine Festival. We received a great reception in Delaware and sold out of our wine in 48 hours! The Hand of God Old Vine Malbec and Fingerprint Series Red Wine were also the featured wines at three VIP dinners; our favorite quote was when one fan said, “The wine was so good it brought tears to my eyes."

At The VUDE, the excitement never stops. Multiple gourmet dinners a month feature top name chefs catering exclusively to Seattle’s foodie crowd, leaving them wanting more of the Hand of God paired with the one-of-a-kind menus.

Drink more Malbec!

In our glass right now is the 2010 Sobremesa Vineyard “Fingerprint Series” Malbec blend. Current bottle conditions are ideal, as the wine is showing aromas of violets and roasted coffee bean, with a full and round mouthfull, finishing with spiced chocolate and boysenberry jam flavors.  Ideal with grilled meats and game, this is the wine to have on hand when you dust off the barbecue.  Only $36.00 a bottle for our Sobremesa Club members or $45.00 a bottle directly to your door.  With inventory expected to deplete by the end of summer, don’t miss out on the chance to stock up on this classic vintage.
